About

Hi, I’m Maddy (they/she)!

I’m the human behind Fruity Stones - a queer, disabled artist living and creating on unceded Ngunnawal and Ngambri land (Canberra, Australia).

Fruity Stones is where my love of sparkles, glitter, and the transformative power of embellishment comes to life. My practice is process-led and full of joyful chaos. It’s where my hyperfocus is allowed to play, and where texture, detail, and experimentation are everything. I work with rhinestones, beads, crystals, thrifted treasures, and all kinds of mixed-media bits, turning the ordinary into something shimmering and strange.

As a disabled artist, my creativity is shaped by my need to rest, and the desire to find meaning outside traditional activism. Making things slowly, thoughtfully, and joyfully, is my way of staying connected with my community.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m studying Occupational Therapy, working toward more inclusive, creative futures led by and for disabled people.

If you’re after a one-off statement piece, a lovingly rhinestoned creation for stage or screen, or just want to follow along with our glittery experiments, I’m so glad you found your way here.
